Visual Merchandising Trip to NYC! Jan. 19-21
The Visual Merchandising program has arranged for a trip to NYC January 19-21 to explore the city to learn about the design and creation of store window displays. Your professors will arrange for you to see many locations and experience some of the best examples of visual merchandising the city has to offer.
Tentative Details and Itinerary*
- Friday, January 19th. Fly non-stop to LaGuardia airport. Morning arrival in the city. After we drop off our bags at the hotel and eat lunch we will explore our local neighborhood and make our way via subway to Midtown to explore Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen, and Broadway. We will meet in the early afternoon for the Fashion Window Walking Tour by Window Wear. The Fashion Window Walking Tour is wholly dedicated to maximizing exposure to the art of visual merchandising of department stores and high end fashion brands along historic Fifth Avenue which offers analysis into successfully translating in-store experience to the exterior visuals. Afterwards, we will meet at the Museum of Modern Art for a quick evening tour of their collection that includes highlights such as Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Picasso’s Demoiselles d’Avignon and experience the Is it Fashion Show. After our museum visit you are on your own for dinner (must stay in groups of four!) and then head back to the hotel.
- Saturday, January 20th. Morning/early afternoon tour of ABC Home, Under Amour’s flagship store, and Ralph Lauren’s Polo store. After our tour you will have a break and some free time. Dinner is own your own.
- Sunday, January 21st. Optional Morning tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. You will have the opportunity to “Hack the Met” with a series of games, activities and exercises designed to make going to a museum fun! Lunch on your own and meet back at our hotel to transfer back to the airport.
