The Grand Tour: Drawing on Rome and Pompeii
A group of 18 students finally make their way to the Italian Peninsula to draw their hearts out at all of the amazing sites. This photo essay shows some of the highlights of the first few days when we visited Rome and Florence with our sketchbooks.
Our group landed in Rome on a rare rainy day but it did not dampen our spirits as we made our way to the Spanish steps for the first of what would be many group photos of the stude
Our first experience drawing was in the Monti neighborhood of Rome. We started in a small piazza with a view of a fountain.
As the rain started to intensify we made our way into the St. Peter in Chains Church. To learn more about the church and see some additional sketches check out this page.
Day 3: The Vatican Museums

The two professors teaching the Grand Tour course are Dr. Anna Piperato and Prof. Scott Raynor. They had previously met on an earlier tour where they connected up at the Pantheon.

Day 5: Piazza Navona
We hope you enjoyed seeing a little glimpse and traveling with us to this beautiful country of Italy. We like traveling with bright and energetic students and we are happy to have you along with us.
