The oldest and probably the most famous museum on earth, the Louvre holds many artistic treasures including the mysterious and enigmatic Mona Lisa. At ITATs we like to make museums fun, informative and interesting and our Louvre tour will show you the “greatest hits” of the museum, along with a few lesser known but interesting treasures. After our museum visit we will take a stroll through the royal commissioned Tulleries Gardens with its formal hedges and fantastic views.

How much Spending Money do I Need?
Each person varies on their spending levels. A typical lunch in Paris will cost around 12-15 euros (not fast food). A nice sit down dinner will cost between 30-60 euros. You can also eat very cheaply with a variety of quick dining options (when I am in sightseeing mode I will grab a baguette, some lunch meat and some fruit for a few euro). Souvenir shopping can also be expensive but that greatly varies by person.
Physical Activity Levels
Our tours are walking intensive. You should be able to walk in 20-30 minute increments in the city and be able to stand in a museum for 1-2 hours. We also require that you be able to carry your luggage. Note that each day is rated for activity level and that you can opt out of any activity. Paris is also well connected via Metro and Taxi. You can always choose to meet us during some scheduled walking tours.
At ITATs we like to stay in clean, 2 or 3 star hotels in the city center. We prefer hotels that are non-corporate and family owned with some charm. European hotel rooms are typically smaller than their American counterparts. We put a lot of research and effort into our hotels and we have good relationships with the owners and staff. Prices are based on rooms of two but we can accommodate a larger room of three or four, if requested. If you prefer a private room you can have one for an additional charge. Just ask.
Each traveler is allowed one suitcase and one small carry on bag. The suitcase must be under 50 pounds or you will have to pay the airline imposed extra weight charge. We highly recommend that you pack light. We travel with a philosophy of “less is more”. You will be responsible for carrying your bags from the bus to the room. All of our hotels have elevators but you should be prepared to carry your bags up some steps.
The average temperatures in June for Paris range from a low of 56 to a high of 78 degrees. However, like many large cities, Paris can feel very hot in the summer and you should plan accordingly.
My Guide is a Professor…Will there be a Test?
No! Your guide is fairly knowledgable about art and history, but prefers to give you a moderate amount of information in order to make the place we are visiting come alive. This helps you to have a more meaningful experience and better understand the people and culture you will experience on the trip. We prefer short, precise, explanations of each iconic spot or location, and then give you time to explore and ask our experts additional questions.
